Giveaway WINNER!

,

I want to thank ALL OF YOU that took the time to watch at least one of my son's videos! So many great comments and he is LOVING the feedback! He was so excited to check the 'hits' each day. Thank you too for showing it to others, posting the link in other places and passing it on to those you know would enjoy it. If you are so inclined you can subscribe or become a follower of the TimbersledProducts 'channel' so to speak, on YouTube. He is editing footage of yesterday's ride now and they had an 'extreme' rider with them doing some CRAZY stuff! I'm not sure when he will have a new video up but hopefully very soon.

For those of you that commented on us having snow in May, listen up - we had a mix of hail and snow at our house today. Crazy, I tell you!

So on with the announcement already! Did the random number 'thingy' and still don't know how to post that here but the winner of the 4 Kona Cotton fat quarters is - WOOLYBOOGER!!!! Isn't that a hilarious name???

I watched both videos. I've never seen a snow bike. When the bike was shown, it all seemed very practical. My favorite video was the one showing the bike up close. Thanks for participating in the SMS giveaway.

I have the Irish Chain quilt sandwiched and ready to quilt. I did add the borders. I also have the 9 Birdie Baby Quilt sandwiched and ready to quilt! I was hoping to get my BSR 'fixed' before I started these but the repair guy was not able to get ahold of Bernina and he was not familiar with the fix that I was telling him about. Phooey.

Another one of the church babies was born this week. They are having them faster than I can quilt! LOL! Only one more scheduled as of right now and that is for mid June and get this - I have that quilt top finished already. :D

Praise - hubby and I did have a great time in the nursery on Sunday! Lots of children but they were all well behaved.

Prayers - for hubby as they move into new offices tomorrow, for that transition.

GIVEAWAY DAY!

I'm participating in the Sew, Mama Sew! Giveaway today!
Make sure you go on over to her blog to find the list of all participating blogs.

My offering is 4 fat quarters of Kona Cotton.

The colors are from top to bottom - Bright Pink, Grass Green, Orange, Turquoise.

I'll be shipping to U.S. addresses only this time.

To qualify please go to this YouTube link and choose to watch at least one of the two videos. My son filmed and edited these and I am trying to help him get his 'hits' number up (I told him my blogging friends would help him out). Then come back here and leave a comment telling me something about the video you watched. BTW-those videos were filmed in the last two weeks! Is that crazy or what that they would be riding/filming in the snow in MAY!

Entries close Thursday, May 20th, 10PM PST.

Praise - looks like spring has finally arrived!

Prayers - for my son as he starts working again today.

Modern Irish Chain

Inspired by this post at Cluck Cluck Sew. I got her pattern and then spent a couple of days this week working on it. It goes together so quickly and I just love it!

I think the longest part of the whole process was choosing the 18 fabric prints. I have trouble with that 'random' thing. I used some Amy Butler's Lotus, Sandi Henderson's Farmers Market, Heather Bailey's Fresh Cut, some of the Posh leftovers and a print from Tina Givens. I am debating the small white borders. Yes or No??

I am also working on another baby quilt using Natalia's tutorial. Mine is going to look very much like hers. I don't have any pictures yet but I have my four nine-patches done.

I KNEW that all these babies were on their way. What I don't know is why I've waited until they were born to start the quilts!! Insane! Not all of the mother's knew what they were having so there is a small excuse for my procrastination. Okay, off to sew some more!

***HEY! Come back Monday because I am participating in the;

that is going on over at Sew, Mama Sew!

Praise - My son is finished with high school!! 13 years of homeschooling and two semesters of college courses - FINISHED! Thanks be to God for his leading in that endeavor.

Prayers - For hubby and myself - we have nursery duty at church tomorrow and there are a LOT of little children now! That we would be patient and loving towards all of the children (and that they would be well behaved!).

200th Post - GIVEAWAY!

I really did not think this far ahead when I first started this blog. 100 posts was too much to even think about at that time and now here I am at 200. Mind boggling. It's been fun for me to have this blog and to meet so many other bloggin' friends. I look forward to the next 100 posts, however long that might take. Thanks for joining me.

I need to give a BIG thanks to Des and Corrie of Quilt Taffy, for their encouragement in starting this blog, for their friendship (I really believe we are long lost sisters) and cheerleading and for teaching me about giveaways! THANKS!!!

First off I do need to report on my sewing for the day. After a great day at church and a yummy lunch bought from the podunk country store on the way home I was energized and ready to sew. Of course I had to check in on all my bloggin' friends first. But then I got busy. All went smoothly in the construction of this bag;

Again, this is The Practical Bag pattern by Tanya Whelan's Grand Revival Patterns done in the lovely VERNA by Kate Spain and Moda. College girl bought this fabric and asked me to make the bag so she can give it to her BFF. I'll be taking this to the big city with me on Friday.

As I mentioned before I had planned on a giveaway at 100 posts but it just slipped by so now I will be giving away TWO goodies!! The first name drawn will get first pick of the charm packs and the second name drawn will get the remaining charm pack. I hope you like the choices;

(Charm pack images from the Moda site)
I'm afraid that I will have trouble parting with them! Might have to get one of each for myself.

So the rules of the Giveaway;

1)Leave a comment on THIS POST for one entry. You must have an email contact (either through a direct link in your comment or an email address that you type into the contact)

2)Become a follower of my blog and leave a comment on THIS POST telling me that you did so. If you are already a follower - THANK YOU! but you will still have to leave me a comment telling me that you already follow. This will earn you an entry.

3)Post an entry on your blog about MY blog and giveaway. Post a comment, with a link to your blog post, telling me that you did so on THIS POST. You will earn an entry for this.

You can do any one, any two, or all three. I will draw the winners when I return from the big city and have a chance to tabulate the entries. Posts will close the night of Monday the 26th and the drawing done by Wednesday the 28th. Bear with me, I hope this all makes sense. It is supposed to be fun!

Praises - 200 posts! I think that is praise worthy! I've 'met' so many fun and talented people and learned so much from them. Hubby found the corner marker!!!!

Prayers - I feel as though it will be a short week with me leaving on Friday and I need to get my work done, get my bindings ready, pack and then all the 'normal stuff'.

Joining in the fun

I don't remember how I got there but I came across the Old Red Barn Co.'s blog right before they started a quilt along/giveaway. I decided to join in.

Here is a look at what the quilt is going to look like. This is one that Dana made last summer I believe and then she GAVE IT AWAY!! I know! My quilt will look a lot like the sample because I am using those same fabrics that I had in my stash. I think that is a bonus! I decided to buy one piece of fabric for the front, the orange with little clusters on it. For some reason I didn't have that one and I only needed a half yard.

Here are my fabrics,Sandi Henderson's Ginger Blossom. I ended up not cutting the striped one. I have more than the required 12 so I am mixing it up more and I think I will do a mixed border with my leftovers.

Here are all my strips ready to go! Well the orange one is missing. That fabric should arrive in the mail today or tomorrow. It will be pretty easy to catch up at that point. I do have that baby quilt to be thinking about in the meantime.

Check out the quilt along and if you don't join at least follow along in Flickr to see all the gorgeous quilts. Many are being made from Paula Prass's Flights of Fancy line. I get so caught up in the quilt I forget that there is a huge giveaway at the end and many great giveaways along the way. If you use the Flights of Fancy line you get more entries. As much as I love that line and see how gorgeous those quilts are going to be I really needed to avoid buying more fabric.

My son just came in with the mail and told me that my new fabric is here!!! Now I can get to cutting strips WOO HOO!

Praise - the weather has cooled off and the temperatures are in the 70's. Much more comfortable!
Prayers - for the group of young people that God would like to be assembled at our home for a study.

HAPPY JUNE!

Can you believe it is June 1st already??? ALMOST summer! Spring here is so slow to be 'springy' that by the time it really looks like spring it is June 1st and almost summer.

Thought you'd like to see some of the wildlife that I see right out my window. This was actually taken from the car window on the way to Bible study. He was just standing there chewing away on the tender young leaves and I told hubby to stop!! He rolled down his window and I leaned across and took this picture. Moosey didn't like the intrusion so he started moving on. We've had a moose about this size tromping through our property lately, might be the same one since this was just down the road a ways.

This is one of my latest projects in progress. This is the Moda Bakeshop's Pinwheel Baby Quilt done in the blues and greens of Moda's Neptune. I don't think I had ever made these half triangle squares before. I didn't do them the way the instructions said to. I knew I had seen a different explanation that would be much quicker. I went to Quilt Taffy and found some help there. Thanks Des and Corrie!
Here are my 12 blocks all sewn together. I am even further than this now, I sewed the inner border on and made all my prairie points and sewed those on and then I sewed on the outer border. I did take a picture of that but it is horrible.

Now I am procrastinating/stalling. I don't know what to do for the quilting!!!! The other night I decided to attempt free motion quilting. My first attempt was small and tight and close together and not at all pretty. I watched Amandajean's video again as well as emailed her with some questions (that she so kindly answered right away). My son came in to see what I was up to and he watched the video with me while I explained what this was all about. I asked him if he wanted to try it and he did!! He did amazingly well for his first time then he asked can't you slow the machine down?? Well I had read that some people did indeed change the speed of their machine but that wasn't something I had ever done. I checked out the manual and sure enough it was a simple adjustment and then we tried again. The slowest speed was way to slow but right in the middle range was perfect. I took over on the sample where my son left off and just did a small area but what a difference! I just don't know if I could do the entire quilt. I realize I need more practice - LOTS MORE! But I am still doubting whether I am capable of doing the entire quilt. I am toying with the idea of some sort of straight line quilting following the lines of each block and then straight lines all around the inner border. I was then thinking of either stippling the outer border or getting those paper rolls that you sew over the top of. I need to decide. I want to have this done and ready to present to the baby on the 12th!! That means quilted, binding made and applied and sewn down. Yeah, I'd better get busy on that.
* * * * * * *
Over on The Fabric Shopper you can enter for a chance (or two or three) to win a stack of 30 fat quarters of Katie Jump Rope fabrics! Wouldn't THAT be a lovely giveaway to win??
At the end of this month I will be celebrating my ONE YEAR Blogiversary and maybe sometime this month will be my 100th post as well. Those could be worth celebrating. Just sayin'
* * * * *
Praise - we have a wonderful church and pastor and church family! College girl will be finished with school the 11th and we can pick her up on the 12th!!
* * *
Prayers - that college girl would put forth her best effort in her year end studies, final papers and projects and then final exams.
