February Pillow Party

Linking up my entry for the

Blogger's Pillow Party

This isn't what I thought I was going to make when February started but as the deadline to enter drew closer I knew I couldn't get my first idea finished. So I switched gears and made a pillow that I have been wanting to try. Hubby just so happened to clean out his closet the other day and I grabbed two of his t-shirts for future projects.

I took a lot of pictures, trying to get the color to be true and dealing with another overcast day. When I was ready to come put them on the computer I passed the Bliss baby quilt and thought they would go great together.

I'm pretty happy with it and keep playing with the ruffles.

Yesterday I made this mug rug, 'close to mirror image' from the one that I made in January for College Girl. She works in mailing services on campus and when she opened her package one of her co-workers fell in love with the mug rug. She said something along the lines of wishing that I would make one for her. College Girl asked if she was serious and she said, "yes!". She may have given up hope or forgotten about it by now. I hope she will be surprised when the package arrives later this week.

Praise - my nephew's friend, Grant, appears to have had a restful night, his fever broke and his heart rate normalized.

Prayers - for a miracle for Grant.

Pillow Party!

Getting some mileage out of this pillow by joining in the

Blogger's Pillow Party

I had seen sweater pillows online and at the Pottery Barn site and figured, "I could do that!". Finding the sweater was the hardest part. I laid my pillow form on top of the sweater and cut around it by a few inches, pinned it all before I moved it and then sewed it together on three sides. I was going to have an envelope back but didn't really have enough sweater left for an overlap. Vintage buttons, still on the card (79 cents for 6 of them) that had been my mom's at some point sewn at the open edge. I had used part of one sleeve to cover a vase but I'm still tinkering with that project. The leftover strips just begged to be made into the rolled flowers (the first I'd ever made).

As soon as I set this on the couch and hubby immediately asked who it was for. I'm guessing he asked that since I rarely keep any of my finished projects. I thought about giving it to my sister to go with the Glace' quilt that I gave her last year but then decided that I really like this pillow on MY couch. BTW - someone thought it was pink but it is most definitely red. My picture taking skills are lacking and so was the lighting. Come join the party!

Praise - for the wonderful man of God that is the pastor of our church. We just got home from Bible study and I am reminded again what a blessing He has given the congregation of our little country church.

Prayers - for our pastor and his wife, for their health and safety and their continued dedication to proclaiming His truth.

One more project...

FINISHED!

I didn't have enough of the coordinating print that I showed in my WIP post to make the waistband and ties. I decided to go with all one print. Meadowsweet 2 by Sandi Henderson for Michael Miller.

Not a great photo, taken at night, w/flash. But I wanted to get it packaged up and ready to go out the door with hubby in the morning.

Praise - lady from church has improved some with blood transfusions and will possibly go home today.

Prayers - lady from church is not out of the woods, waiting for test results/diagnosis could take up to 5 days.

Made some progress

It's late. Wait, I think it is early. Either way I need to get to bed but I wanted to post what I have been able to check off of my WIP list.

3 Aprons
2 Pillowcases

I'm linking up to Quiltstory's Fabric Tuesday!

I feel as though I am a day and a half behind my schedule. Must get some sleep. Must catch up.

Praise - College Girl had her final final today and is finished with fall quarter! College Boy had his first final today.

Prayers - for a lady from church that has been admitted to the hospital for tests, blood transfusion. Prayers for a diagnosis, comfort & healing.
