4/12 Even more strips

So far this is all the sewing I have accomplished today;

The binding strips for the POSH quilt. I was wandering around the LQS (that isn't so local really at all) on Friday while a friend got a demo on an embroidery machine. I was trying to figure out what to use for the binding and then I saw the BOUTIQUE line by the same designers as POSH. There were five different colorways of this same dotted print - pink, green, yellow, blue and maybe red. It was a toss up between the pink and green but the salesclerk convinced me the pink would look great (that was my first pick). I like that the little dots are made up of colors that are in the POSH prints.

Binding strips sewn together and then I have ironed that in half and rolled it up. I then had a phone call that lasted 1.5 hours, had to work, get dinner in the crockpot and after dinner go to town for groceries. Now I am beat so I'm not sure if I will start sewing the binding on to the quilt or save it for tomorrow.

Praise - for the wonderful place we are able to live, with the beautiful creek and mountains and the wildlife.

Prayers - for hubby, he pulled something in his chest and back, probably while trying to move a pool table yesterday.

4/11 Lazy Day

Good day at Sunday school and church, hubby and I grabbed some lunch on the way home at the little podunk grocery store/deli and then I vegged. I read blogs. I read email. I surfed the internet. I felt so sleepy and almost gave in to a nap but I resisted. Chatted with Rene for awhile and then decided I needed to get my sewing in for the day.

I had just a few more strips to quilt and then the stippling on the borders;


Got it all done and I am clipping threads now. Tomorrow I will trim the edges and make the binding. I'd love to get the binding sewn to the front of the quilt too. We shall see how it goes. I'm pretty excited to be this far along. I hope that I can get a good picture tomorrow along with the measurements.

4/10 Great progress today

I got up fairly early for a Saturday, especially since I stayed up late last night and I got right to work on the quilt. Sewed on the borders, pieced the backing, laid the backing out and the batting. I just gotta say - I LOVE THE PERSON WHO INVENTED SPRAY BASTING!!! Genius! My son hates when I use it but he wasn't home today - bonus! My hubby was sitting right by the table I was using and I suggest that he leave but he was busy working on something. He got a call a few minutes later and had to leave the house - bonus!! Weird as this may sound, I actually like the smell of the spray. I also like magic markers, old time mimeograph ink and Staz-On ink. Not that I sniff the stuff but I don't have to open all the windows and doors when I use it.
Not a great picture but it is all I have. I tried to hand the flimsy on my clothesline since it was a beautiful day but there was too much of a breeze and I could not get a picture. I tried hanging it over the deck railing and it kept blowing off.


I am ALMOST done with the middle section quilting (but I had to stop to do this post before the day was over). I am going to stipple in the outer border tomorrow and get to work on the binding.


If I can get the binding applied and have that to do while watching a show in the evenings then I can get back to my Verna quilt or the Blush table runner. It is supposed to rain all week and that is perfect weather for quilting.

Praise - hubby and I have come to an agreement on the real estate deal that we can have peace about. Thank you Lord for that!

Prayers - for the other party in the real estate deal, that they can make a decision and we can all move on - one way or another (Still this won't be until near the end of the week).

4/9 Squeezing in some borders

Just a quickie post so I can get back to sewing. I worked today and then went with a friend to the closest 'big' city (not really big but bigger than this town)which is about 1.5 hours away. I should have stayed home to sew but she said FABRIC STORES and she had me.

Got home way later than I had planned on, had a pizza with my hubby and then set to work. I cut 1st border strips and am sewing those on now.


I will sew the 2nd border strips on next and then will be ready to do the quilt sandwich tomorrow. I was able to find backing and binding fabrics today so that made the trip worthwhile.

I don't even know what to say about the real estate deal. The other party didn't think they had to respond by today although THEY were the ones asking for the two week extension that ended today. They wanted MORE time! The real estate agent convinced them that the extension time is up and they need to move to the next phase. Looks like another week once we go over the papers they turned in today and respond to them and then they get three days to respond. Who knows how old I will be when this is all over?? I so appreciate those of you that have said you are praying for this situation. If you aren't worn out and tired of it could you please continue to pray?? THANK YOU!

Praise - we made the trip to the big city and back safely.

Prayers - for my son's last day on the ski mountain tomorrow and for college girl's housing options for the next school year.

4/8 Posh Reveal

Back in October, Des and Corrie of Quilt Taffy had their quilt retreat and then showed off what they did there. Amongst many cute quilts were these Quick and Fast Jelly Roll Quilts. Des thought that maybe they could post instructions and photos, along the lines of a tutorial sometime before Christmas but those girls are very busy and it just didn't happen. Well turns out that Des is going to be teaching this quilt method to 17 gals at her church this Friday and she shared the link to the instructions with me. Looks like the instructions were originally from a Moda rep. I wonder why we've not seen this on the Moda Bakeshop.

I had to try it right then. I've had this POSH Jelly Roll for a very long time and although I did have other plans for it changing plans wasn't a deal breaker for me. You can't really plan where any of the prints are going to end up. Note the group of solids at the bottom of my quilt. The thing is, when I first sewed all my strips together I spaced out the solids. I did have an OOPS moment too. I was on the second 'fold and sew' portion and what did I see on my table??? Yup, a strip. It was hiding over with my Verna quilt, trying to blend in there so it didn't get used up. Worked too.

Not the best photo. I know. But I finished sewing the strips together after dark and what other choice did I have but to take a picture with flash?

Seriously, this is VERY quick and easy. If I didn't have to work and do laundry and cook and clean this would have been done to this point on Tuesday night! I'm not so sure that a single person in a small apartment could make this though. I had my hubby and son helping me and the strip reached from my sewing room door across the entire length of the house! Read the instructions and you will understand what I mean. I can see why it would be a great retreat project.

I have POSH fabric for a border but I think it needs a narrow solid border first and I will try to get that tomorrow. Unless I decide on no border at all. Ya gotta love a quilt that comes together so quickly. You really do! Let me know if you make one. Or more.

Praise - for the wonderful weather we get to experience. We have had more snow this week than the entire month of January! I love snow!

Prayers - we should hear SOMETHING on Friday regarding the property, prayers that it will be a GOOD something.

4/7 Rolling, rolling, rolling

Keep those Posh strips rolling!


I ended up having to work longer today than I had planned so I didn't get to my sewing until after Bible study. It is 11:30 p.m. and I am still sewing. Maybe for another hour or so. I hope to sew for a longer period of time tomorrow. So far I am liking this 'sew everyday' challenge!

Praise - just a glimmer from the real estate agent today and it sounded positive.

Prayers - continuing prayers for the prospective sale of our property. That we would continue to TRUST IN THE LORD!!
