4/5 - Verna Sashing

After I worked for a few hours today I was able to get the sashing started on the Verna quilt. A little break to fix and eat dinner and then clean up and I was back at it to finish up the sashing.

Now I am wondering if I should add the borders or leave it this size. This is for a lap quilt for my mother-in-law. Right now it is approximately 32" square. Opinions welcomed!

For those of you that might be wondering - we still don't' have a finalized 'deal' with our house/property. A couple of weeks ago it should have been decided upon by the prospective buyer but instead we were asked for a TWO WEEK extension. At that point I was just tired of the whole thing so didn't mention it again. This Friday, the ninth, should be the day we hear something from the prospective buyer.

Praise - I'm feeling much better today!

Prayers - That this would be the final week of decision for the prospective buyer and that a deal can be reached that is favorable to both parties.

4/4 Easter -not according to MY plan

But always according to HIS plan and I am so very thankful that God is in charge and I am not. I went to bed last night not feeling all that great and woke up this morning not feeling well at all. When I looked out the window and saw this though;

That certainly was a fun pick-me-up! At 5:30 it was snowing hard, the trees were covered and it looked like it might add up to something. My hubby had to decide if an outside sunrise service was a go or not. It was a GO! I stayed home in bed.
I missed the breakfast at church which means I missed my ONCE A YEAR opportunity to have biscuits and gravy. Oh, I know that they are available year 'round but it is something I really don't handle all that well since my gallbladder was removed. I make an exception once a year when a friend makes her special recipe just for Easter breakfast. I missed the main service as well which is when the play was performed.I would have gone to assist with costumes if the young lady that was helping me wasn't able to handle it. She assured me that she could take care of it. So I stayed at home and slept on and off.
When hubby and my son arrived home just before 1 p.m. this is what it looked like outside;

Isn't that crazy??? Temperature got up to 50 degrees!

I was feeling a bit better by this afternoon and fixed a dinner of barbecued salmon,roasted red potatoes and garlic bread. Time for a little sewing before anyone was ready for dessert so I got all of the rows stitched together and now I have a table runner flimsy.

Time for strawberry shortcake!

I also have the sashing strips cut for the Verna quilt so that should be tomorrow's project.

Praise - He is RISEN!!! This really could be my praise daily. If it weren't for that truth what else matters?

Prayers - That I would get over this bug and be able to have a productive week ahead.

HE LIVES!

I serve a risen Saviour,
He's in the world today;
I know that He is living,
Whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy,
I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him
He's always near.

***Chorus;

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives
today!
He walks with me and He talks with me
Along life's narrow way.
He lives, He live, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives:
He lives within my heart.

****

In all the world around me
I see His loving care,
And tho my heart grows weary
I never will despair;
I know that He is leading
Thro' all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing
Will come at last.

*****

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian,
Lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs
To Jesus Christ the King!
The hope of all who seek Him,
The help of all who find,
None other is so loving,
So good and kind.

HALLELUJAH!!

4/3 Blush-ing

Playing with the layout of the charm squares on my dining room table (which is very long and very skinny);

started to sew;

rows of blocks;

I probably could get these all sewn together this evening BUT tomorrow is going to be a busy day so I wanted to leave some no brainer sewing for me to do then. This is a 3x12 layout. Four wide was going to be too wide for my table. I was thinking about doing a disappearing nine patch but have decided against that.

Praise - The final dress rehearsal went well this morning. We've had snow, snow, snow all day and I LOVE IT!

Prayers - Again for the Easter production at church tomorrow, that the GOOD NEWS would be conveyed to those that need to hear it.

4/2 Sewing report

See? I sewed!

First nine patch;

all four of the nine patches complete;

I had a heck of a time getting one section to match up. I un-sewed it (boo, hiss!) and pinned it (again) and re-sewed it. Still not lining up. It is staying as is. I will see it immediately each time I look at it. Maybe it will get lost in the quilting, washing and drying process. I can dream right?

I need to cut the sashing and border fabrics before I can go any further with this. Which leads me to wonder what to sew tomorrow since it is going to be a busy day for me and I probably won't get to the sashing and border fabrics.

Big ol' list!

Here we go for the April edition of;

Since my goal is to sew EVERY day this month I figured I might actually get a few projects done so I could be ambitious with my goals for the month.

First up a copy of a purse that I made in 2008;

College girl's BFF loved the purse that I made in February and so college girl has asked me to make one so that she can give it to her BFF. This green is so springy!

I received this charm pack for Christmas and wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it. I like each and every print in this line so I'm thinking of making a simple 4x10 or 4x9 tablerunner. No pattern. Nothing fancy.Just gonna let those prints shine!

The Verna 'lap' quilt;

I would like to get the flimsy done for this Cotton Blossoms quilt. I've listed it before but then set it aside for other projects.

Another project that I have set aside too many times. This is for a good friend of mine. She probably thinks I have forgotten all about it.

This for another friend of mine. She has no idea about this so hasn't been disappointed that it hasn't happened yet.

Quite the list huh? I am already dreaming of other things I would like to work on. A pair of baby shoes, half square triangles for a quilt, little zipper pouches and a couple of other purses. I guess I'd better get sewing!

Praise - for the snow that we've gotten today. It is so pretty on top of the spring brown.

Prayers - for college girl's weekend. Because of snow in the Pacific NW her plans for Easter weekend have changed (the pass is probably going to close).

I'm not fooling

My GOAL for April is to sew EVERY day. No big commitments in April. No trips planned. No company scheduled. I don't have to complete something everyday, I just have to sew. Today it was as mundane as the hems of three costume tunics. Tomorrow I would like to get a start on this;

That was on my March list but I never got around to it.

I have LOTS of fabric and many patterns and lots of projects on my TO-DO List. The most difficult part will be some sort of organization so that each day I am able to sew something. Anything.

I will get a more concrete list of goals together for the Charming Girls Club. I hope to take a photo each day of my accomplishment. Day 1 and I already forgot to get a picture. Maybe I can take a picture of those three hems at dress rehearsal on Saturday. Not like they are exciting or anything.

Praise - costumes are DONE!

Prayers - for the cast of the Easter production, that they would fine tune their lines and delivery. For the people interested in our property...they asked for a two week extension. For us during this two weeks, that we would rest in the Lord and know that everything happens in His time.
